While duos can live happily together, trios are generally recommended as a minimum group size. Mice are highly social animals with complex social hierarchies, and if one mouse in a duo sadly passes away, the remaining mouse will be left alone. To continue meeting their social and welfare needs, another suitable companion would need to be found. If you are interested in adopting a duo, please consider your future plans for maintaining companionship.
